Check out this promotional video for the Diablo Bike Turnout project:
Alamo Trek messaged me that my Klein is ready, but I didn't get it picked up in time for today's ride. I had the clincher wheels mounted on to the Merckx and did a few pre-ride checks and adjustments and looked forward to a fun day in the saddle.
On Blackhawk road I realized I couldn't shift into the little chainring, so I stopped and did another adjustment (keep reading for the REST of the story).
Roadkill Report: the raccoon and the opossum were still there, but now there was a rat too... stinky carnage.
Around the Helicopter Pad I passed a couple guys and one of them noticed my Eddy Merckx and chatted me up about old bikes... we rode together for a while and then he heard Bob Dylan on my Diablo MP3 speaker, and then we talked about our experiences going to Cal. His name is Alan and he had a custom Independent Fabrications bike just for him.
At Junction I met with Ted who can talk classic bikes with the best of them. He was there passing out the Donate for Turnouts pamphlets. Also he had ridden a Legnano that he just finished restoring and it was a beauty.
Then when I was almost home... basically the same place where my derailleur cable exploded on Wednesday, I threw my chain off the big ring and it got jammed up behind the crankarm... took me quite a while to undo that - no damage though.
I see this guy all the time on The Mountain, but usually don't have time to say anything other than HI. Talked to him a little today, but forgot to ask his name. |

I found rat turds in my Elektro burrito. I wouldn't buy their stuff with YOUR money.
